Friday Little Party 6, Game 1

Another 750 pt tournament with restrictions on identical units. I took the same list as last time. And surprisingly had a bit of a deja vu when I came up against the same eldar player and on pretty much the same table as last time in round 1! He had modified his list slightly to deal with Land Raiders a bit better:

Farseer
5 Fire dragons
Falcon (maybe was a wave serpent)
5 dire avengers
3 jetbikes
6 warpspiders
5/6 swooping hawks
Artillery (D-cannons?)

Friday Little Party - Game 1

1st game of 7th ed, 750 pts, foc restricted to no doubles apart from troops and dedicated transports (with several exceptions eg waveserpents).

Took my old 6th ed surprise list:

Master of the Forge
5 scouts, heavy bolter
5 marines, meltagun, melta bombs
Land raider redeemer, multi-melta, extra armour
Land raider

I rolled on strategic traits and got outflank on my warlord. Night was on turn 1 and I won the roll off to deploy first. Objective placement was kept in my deployment zone near terrain in the open in order to be able to claim with both land raiders or troops with ease.

Digital weapons v1: Game 2

Game 2 - relic, dawn of war deployment. I get the pleasure of versing a seer council of doom for the first time:

Farseer, bike, spear (doom, executioner, guide)
Farseer, bike spear (eldritch storm, death mission, guide)
8 warlocks on bike (2x guide, 3x executioner, doom, enhance/drain, quicken/restrain)
5 dire avengers, wave serpent, scatter laser, holo-fields
5 dire avengers, wave serpent, scatter laser, holo-fields
Wraithknight with D-cannons or whatever they're called

Baron Sathonyx

5 warriors, blaster, venom with extra cannon, maybe some grisly trophies or something.

My opponent somehow didn't get fortune so I guess I wasn't even versing this army at it's full potential. The special rule for this table was night-fight happens automatically on both turn 1 and turn 5, which was great considering I rolled night attacker for my warlord trait...

I win the roll of to choose sides and give my opponent the side with minimal los-blocking terrain so he hasn't got anywhere to hide the council should I get turn 1. I place the skyshield accordingly to negate the one los-blocker that my opponent could potentially use.

I then lose the roll of for first turn, courtesy of the baron...

3000pt Doubles Tournament Report: Call to Arms

On Sunday, Paul, Ilya and I all went to a 3000 point doubles tournament. You were allowed to go on your own and Paul and I went as a team with Blood Angels and Imperial Guard and Ilya was on his own with Orks. It wasn't going to be a big tournament with 11 players signed up originally but there were 8 of us altogether on the day.

1000 pts IG vs Eldar Crusade

First 6th ed batrep, here we go:

IG army list:

Primaris psyker with rulebook powers (got puppet master and psychic shriek)

Marbo

PCS with 3x flamer
20 man blob, 2x autocannon, 2x grenade launcher, commissar with plasma pistol and power weapon
Veteran squad with 3x plasmagun, grenadiers, power sword and chimera with heavy flamer

Vendetta with heavy bolters

Hydra (just trying it out in 6e)
Leman russ battle tank with lascannon and heavy bolters (another experiment)

Ilya had 3 quite large dire avenger squads, a farseer, a few warlocks, a warwalker, a falcon and some striking scorpions

Mission was crusade, deployment was the standard pitched-battle style one. We did everything in the order of the rulebook and one thing I noticed was that the terrain was a lot denser than how we usually play it. It also took a fair amount of time to set up. I tried to create areas of los blocking stuff down the middle for hiding and some open firelanes. Ilya was to deploy first and I didn't manage to seize the initiative.

Can't remember what my warlord trait was but it was worthless in any case, Ilya's was to kill my warlord with his (although since then I've read it more carefully and it should have been to kill him in a challenge)

Considering this was the first battle of 6th ed, all tactics went straight out of my head and I spread my army, allowing Ilya to sort of refuse flank me. Also the blob and the Leman Russ ended up having a very limited field of fire.

He moves up a little and begins to cast spells and dish out a bit of firepower... It turns out that the primaris psyker I was hiding behind what seemed to be a LOS blocking piece of terrain could be seen through a crack and he suffered a wound.

1750 pts SM dual gated libby list vs Ilya's Eldar

Seize ground, dawn of war. I was running my 1750 pt list seen here. Not sure what Ilya was running - but his usual (is whole army) plus some tau tanks (mine) which were standing in as falcons. Note: this is the old camera - so pics aren't as good as the some of the other batreps.

Mini-Tournament

Okay, I know this happened AGES ago but I finally managed to get it posted up.

Game 1 I was up against Artemy using Ilya's salamanders.

Table quarters : Annihalation

I had a lot of general stuff, both those squads are normal guard - it was friendly so I was allowed to take just 1 troop :D

He had some stuff - mostly not v. good choices in my opinion

He castled up in one corner which was not v. clever of him especially since I promptly seized the initiative

I spread out and got ready to attack.

I did some damage but my tanks got under heavy fire.

Couldnt take down that land speede :(

I'm loving my new tanks, they killed tons of marines - large blast markers ftw.

In the end he won 5-3 because of some unlucky rolls on my part - for example my psyker killed himself in perils of the warp instead of killing his commander and I couldnt kill his land speeder.

Game 2 : Ilya's Eldar

Capture and Control : Table Quarters

I seize the initiative - again!!!

A few blasts and movement and I was controlling the field and contesting his objective

While having my objective in firm control

Ended the game 1-0, Artemy won the tournament having won all his matches

Apocalypse battle: Eldar and Orks vs Imperium

SO here it is after being long promised. What I'll do is take you through the pics and a add a little story to it. My secret mission was to have a unit in each building :( - might have to change that cos it's a bit difficult. Oh and it was a 5,750 point battle. My list was so long that I just can't be bothered to write everything I included here, sorry folks. You can also see this as the end to our R2G campaign. Also blogger has been playing up so it all got kinda jumbled :(.

The battered 301st Cadian regiment had been fighting to keep control of the planet for many years now, and their ranks had been thinned down to a under-armed and under-equipped platoon with just three leman russes left of their numerous tank companies and a hellhound.

Not to worry, for warriors of the Salamanders legion and the mighty Ultramarines had arrived to join the fray. Unfortunately the Blood angels sent to reinforce the defence of the last hive city (read: I ran out of points :( ).

Fortunately for the Imperium a defense line was hastily constructed, for otherwise nothing would have stopped the combined power of the THREE opposing super-heavies. Somehow by chance a hellhammer was brought out of servicing by the adeptus mechanicus and was there to join the battle-line.

The tide of Orks surged forward, as aspect warriors nimbly skipped around them and dropped out of the skies. A barrage commenced, throwing astartes bodies and tanks into the air along the Imperial defense line. The Imperium, stalwart as a rock responded by sending forth the two land raiders and calling in an orbital bombardment, killing a few squads of dire avengers and damaging the Skullhamma.

The battle-line fired, causing damage here and there, but all the while fervently praying to survive the next turn.

Once again the ork warcry was taken up and a stompa destroyed the hellhammer, but it could have been much worse if not for the defense line :)

Imperial reserves finally rumbled on blasting away and seriously damaging the Stompa (taking away 3 out of 4 structure points). Along the battle-line rag-tag counter-attacks were made and a few more astartes dropped out of the sky amongst the enemy lines.

The orks and eldar kept coming, but began losing their control of the field, with many of their super-heavies damaged in some way or another.

Imperial forces swept forward stealing objectives from under xenos noses with the game ending 1-1. Then Paul revealed completion of his secret objective - destroying a super-heavy. Player X (my team) rolled on their secret objective (sacred ground) but failed to get a 5+, leaving the xenos with a minor victory.

The tides of orks had overrun the last defense before the hive but the Imperium's efforts may have stalled their advance enough to survive the defense of the last hive city.

There were more pics but I cant find them for some reason... which is strange cos I take a few of my vanquisher aiming at the stomping for example, and others ...

Revenge of the Eldar

The Eldar decided to have a rematch, Ilya made some feeble excuse about not being able to finish more new minis, so the army was exactly the same as last time. Although he did do a LOT better with his eldar this time.

The armies were the same as last time apart from the adjustment in my army of actually taking the razor-back but with heavy bolters and also a biker instead of the rhino and some other stuff I can't remember now.

Fate made the mission annihalation again, with Dawn of War deployment. This time I am trying a kind of narrative battle report, so here goes. By the way we used Ilya's terrain (and tanks!) this time apart from the one obvious building.
