Workbench WIP - Baron, LR and Chapter Master on Bike

Just a quick update on what I built about a week ago now. First of all I got inspired to try and make a baron conversion. All he needs is a greenstuff cloak and I might kitbash his weapon to make it more menacing.  I quite like the bat-like look of his skyboard. It's a conversion based on a mix of a hellion skyboard, a reaver jetbike spare part and lots of spikey bits. I need to tidy up some of the joints though as they're a bit messy at the moment.

I also dug up an old captain and biker sergeant that Paul made probably about 5-6 years ago now. I swapped their backpacks, gave him a shield, cleaned him up and magnetised a powerfist so he can eventually get a thunderhammer/burning blade if I feel like it at some point. Also in the background is my old landraider which I continued fixing, this time by removing the assault cannons which shouldn't be there by tearing them off. I found some heavy bolters which were meant to be predator side sponsons and tried them but they look a little chunky so we'll see. In any case it's not crucial anymore since I'm not going to a 750pts tournament as planned for which I would have needed to have gotten this done.

IG painting progress

I know it's been rather quiet around here but I have been busy. Was going to go to a "goodbye-to-5th"  doubles tournament with Paul but it got cancelled last minute... However because of this incentive I finished one of the veteran squads, built one and finished building another chimera and painted both.
Also I got bases for the space hulk termies and built some terrain. The terrain was just some old stuff that I got from my independent stockist a long long time ago but I spiced it up a little. Oh and Paul tried to strip some models, he might let you know how that went later - not well I gather.

SM vehicles Freehand and Naming

A bit of tank freehand painting has been done on the one's that I'm likely to use more often (note my rhino/razorback was already named Zacharia). I've decided to go for a mix of latin and english namesso here they are - some of these still need to have their painting finished though so bear with me

Meet Icefire my land raider redeemer - just some flames on the side

and a nameplate at the front

For the colours I used a mix of ultramarine blue and skull white that looks a lot like space wolves grey, highlighted with skull white and shadows with adeptus battlegrey

Plan B - I was thinking about a more original name (I've seen a massive yacht sometime ago named Plan B :/) but the name just stuck so much and I could not think of something with as good a ring to it so it stuck

Then a Latin name "Venator Vitiosus" = vicious hunter, which imo sounds quite fitting especially because of what it was doing last match - basically sniping tanks across the map

Still to come: another batrep as promised BA vs my 1750 pt Sm (already been played just need to finish the write-up)

Sentinel WIP Part 2

Not a lot of progress, but there has been some nevertheless...

Actually I like how this comes together... This reminds me - I need to do a post discussing the pros and cons of base coating on and off the sprue!

Taking the tanks for a Stroll...

I can't remember how many points this was, but it was Imperial Guard vs Salamanders. Dawn of war and seize ground.

3 Objectives, he went first or maybe I made him go first I can't remember. I purposefully placed mine in the open as Ilya is always wary of leaving cover (even with marines).

Leman Russ - Variant? Whichever you want...

 Hi again,

I've finished working on another Leman Russ. I have done something similar to my rhino/razorback in the fact that all the options in the box can be put on it and without magnets - if anyone wants to know the exact way to do this just leave a comment and I may even post up a tutorial as I am making another one.

Here it is shown with the Vanquisher variant, lascannon and multi-meltas...

Enjoy :D

Oh and btw Paul is working on his Storm Raven, so watch for an update and there's also that apocalypse battle coming up... And another thing is this which I found when finding out about how to paint the searchlight.

Tanks, tanks and more tanks...

I've been working on my tanks :D and here are the pictures... And thanks to COTBT from 8th Armaggeddon Steel Legion for actually replying to my post on a colour scheme and you all should go check out his blog with his super awesome Imperial Guard.

Steel Legion camo scheme?

Guys, does anyone know what colours to use for the camo part of a Steel legion tank? You know that yellowy-tan colour? Please let me know if you know or have any ideas/suggestions.

Battlewagon update and the greatness of Apocalypse

Hi, Paul speaking,

Some time ago I played in an apocalypse match and got the chance to use my new battlewagon. It was a fun game, and really demonstrated the goodness of apocalypse.

It was a friendly game with orks vs space marines and nids. The nid and the sm player weren't allowed to communicate because of racial difference. The mission was for the orks to keep hold of an imperial prisoner held in a force fieldwhile the sm were trying to recover him and the nids were simply trying to eat him.

Unfortunately the battlewagon was quickly immobilised and wrecked by Hive Tyrant, before it got to use it's spiky dozer-blade thing at the front. In this game it was a fight on all sides, ended with a tervigon tunneling in through the ground to get next to the forcefield, destroying the force-field and simply munching up the imperial inside.

It was a good game, but another bad thing that happened, was that the guns on the wagon broke off halfway through the game - I would thoroughly recommend that they are magnetised, if anyone builds a battlewagon.

Stay tuned for more updates as the battlewagon gets magnetised.

Battle Wagon WIP

I'm sorry about my other post malfunctioning - I'll try to sort that out but, onto positive things.... Paul has a new battle wagon and more coming up... Here is the work in progress, it will soon be painted, as well as its twin that is currently on the construction line.

Finished Vindicator- Name?

So here is my finished Vindicator in her full painted GLORY. Personally I think the stripes were worth the effort it took to do them. Any suggestions for a name would be strongly appreciated. Not much else to say, the pics tell the story...

Ultramarine Tank Painting Stages

Salamanders Tanks

I have a very special treat for you guys today: Ilya's tanks, in anticipation of Saturday's planned game (although originally he was going to field eldar). Here is a sneak peak of some of the forces that might be included:

Ilya loves (or used to b4 5th edition) land raiders.

He would always put a bunch of them inside even before the place called 3++ , ever told us all to do that, I thought his tactics were stupid though at the time.

He does not use this combo any more though in the same way that he's only lately begun to use more than 2 troops...

And his awesome baneblade!!!

Maybe we'll have apoc on saturday???

vs skullhama?

Freehand Rhino

Just finished this today having come up with it only a little before. Onto the pics, they pretty much tell the story.

Concept art by yours truly

Scale painting

Finished piece: breaks up the blue nicely
The only problem is that the Ultramarines sign is not so bold as I had initially hoped, don't use white + silver if you want them to stand out is the lesson from this!

And some more work in the background

Skullhama - Finally Finito!!!

I've finally completely finished the skullhama - it didn't take very long, I just kinda rushed into the projects and now about 1 and a half weeks later and it's done. I'm quite proud of it and I think it should feature in a planned apocalypse battle ahead. It has also given me some hope that I can actually finish the titan (maybe?). Also going on in the background is some tau work.
