Another batrep from ages ago, I persuaded Paul to try out his Blood Angels since he was bored of Daemons at this point, meanwhile I wanted to see what Ovesa-star was like and to try out farsight enclaves, especially all the special riptide stuff.
The 1250 pts lists:
Farsight
Ovesa
Riptide with ion accellerator and bling
Crisis suit with 2 marker drones
Crisis suit with 2 marker drones
Crisis suit with 2 marker drones (yes I know now I couldn't have done this)
Buff commander, can't remember what he had but I'm pretty sure it was just about everything that I could possibly put on him.
Kroot (outflank)
3 broadsides, someone may have had EWO or target lock
(Landing pad? - not sure if it was my fortification or just on the table)
Mephiston
Corbulo
Sternguard with combi-plas in a pod
Baal pred
Assault squad with meltagun
Assault squad with flamer
5 Sniper scouts with missile launcher
5 cc scouts (outflank)

Tournament Report: Spring Storm
I know this is from a while back, but I've only just got round to writing this up. So last Sunday we went to a 2000 pt single FOC tournament. Wanting to do something fresh and take a break from guard I took these guys (click here for army list):
Note: this is going to be less indepth than I usually do mostly because I'm lazy and also because can't remember all the detail. Honestly, I wasn't expecting much and wanted to find out what worked and what didn't in 6th considering I've only played one game with the smurfs in this edition, and the one before that was sometime in the first half of 5th. Here's some of the other armies.

3000pt Doubles Tournament Report: Call to Arms
On Sunday, Paul, Ilya and I all went to a 3000 point doubles tournament. You were allowed to go on your own and Paul and I went as a team with Blood Angels and Imperial Guard and Ilya was on his own with Orks. It wasn't going to be a big tournament with 11 players signed up originally but there were 8 of us altogether on the day.

1750 pts IG vs BA the Relic
Paul and I finally got round to having a match up and we planned to basically take the armies we used at the tournament but could make some small changes. Also we had 250 extra points to play with.
My list looked like this (additions to 1500 points in bold):
Company Command Squad with 2x plasmagun, medic
Veteran Squad with 3x plasmagun, grenadiers, chimera with multi-laser and heavy flamer
Veteran Squad with 3x meltagun, demolitions, chimera with multi-laser and heavy flamer
Platoon command Squad with power sword, plasma pistol, 3x flamer
Infantry Squad with autocannon and grenade launcher and commissar with power sword and plasma pistol
Infantry Squad with autocannon and grenade launcher
Infantry Squad with autocannon and grenade launcher
Heavy weapons team with 3x missile launchers
Vendetta
Vendetta
Leman Russ Vanquisher with Lascannon
Leman Russ Executioner with plasma cannon sponsons
Leman Russ Eradicator with 3x heavy flamer
Paul's list was:
Mephiston
5x Terminators with heavy flamer
Tactical Squad with meltagun, lascannon in razorback with twin heavy bolters
Scout Squad with snipers and missile launcher
Scout squad with close combat stuff
Stormraven
Furiosio Dread
Allies: Lord Commissar with power sword and bolt pistol
Stormtroopers with meltagun (sternguard count as)
Penal Legionnaires (counted as assorted guardsmen)
Medusa with bastion breacher shells (counted as by whirlwind)
Terrain setup: I was worried about terminators and after he placed the big building in the centre I tried to keep his two flanks open and cover some of my flanks. This didn't work out so well but at least I was able to reinforce the hill in the centre of my deployment zone
Paul was going to be going first so I let him setup (see pictures). I carefully measured range from Mephiston and decided to do a similar thing to what I had done against Ilya only more centrally. My blob deployed a few inches out of Mephiston turn 1 assault range. Tanks were spread on two flanks. Chimeras centre followed by command squads which were hoping to dash out of sight under the bunker from the medusa. 2 Vendettas empty and in reserve.
Scout squads infiltrate close to the relic.
However, I quickly seize the iniative and try to capitalise.
Turn 1
Chimeras drive up aggressively, and command squads pass the line of sight of the medusa. Heavy tanks push up both flanks. Massed shooting sees some sniper scouts dead, the medusa dead and five tactical marines who were formerly on the hill dead. First blood has been seized successfully.

Tournament Report: Offence 6th
Warning: Long post lol despite saying it's not too detailed... :)
So I've finally decided to share the tournament results with you guys... Won't be too detailed but will cover all 3 of us to an extent hopefully. It was to be 3 rounds 1500 pts... Round 1 missions 1/2 from the rulebook (on a d3), round 2 missions 3/4 and round 3 missions 5/6. Mysterious objectives and terrain were meant to be in play but we generally forgot/ignored that ...
My army for the tournament had to be changed a bit as counting up my army just in case before it, I realised that the excel spreadsheet which I use, I had been using had a slight mistake (!!!) and I was 10 points over, hence the slight change in my list:
Company Command Squad with 2x plasmagun, medic
Veteran Squad with 3x plasmagun, grenadiers, power sword, chimera with multi-laser and heavy flamer
Veteran Squad with 3x meltagun, demolitions, chimera with multi-laser and heavy flamer
Platoon Command Squad with 3x flamer, power sword and plasma pistol
Infantry Squad Squad with grenade launcher and autocannon and commissar with power swrod and plasma pistol
Infantry Squad Squad with grenade launcher and autocannon
Infantry Squad Squad with grenade launcher and autocannon
Vendetta (had a hard choice between this or a hellhound or an aegis defence line)
Leman Russ Vanquisher with heavy flamer
Leman Russ Executioner with heavy bolter and plasma cannon sponsons
Leman Russ Eradicator with heavy flamer
Looking around before the match after I had set up my army on a tray (2 actually) that was (were?) given to me, I found that there were some interesting armies in sight. 3/4 grey knights, 4/5 space marines (various), no imperial guard apart from me, no dark eldar, 2 tyranids, 2 orks (1 Ilya), 2 Sisters of battle (1 with gk allies, one with guard), 2 chaos space marines (1 with daemon allies), a chaos daemons player, a tau player (with some forgeworld) and an eldar player (with just grav-tanks - forgeworld I think). Not sure if that was everyone but that was roughly it, there were roughly 14 tables so you can do the maths...
Round 1 I was paired up against grey knights, so I was a little scared, but I thought what the heck at least I get to see what they're all about. He had a stormraven, a dreadknight, 15 purifiers/interceptors (? troops anyway), a dreadnought with multi-melta, 5 grey knight terminators, a terminator librarian with some powers and a sprinkling of psycannons and maybe a flamer thing.
Mission we rolled for was objectives and we got 3 of them... deployment was pitched battle. Having determined the sides we placed objectives (He got first turn and decided to go first or maybe i was first but in any case he had first turn). One objective ended up in the open and 2 in opposite corners. Night fight didn't happen. His librarian + 10 troops + dreadnought went in the stormraven which he started on the table as he said he was scout moving + starting in skimmer mode (which you're not allowed but he was so confident about it I let it go at the time). His termies went central for the objective and a small purifier squad sat in a building on his side with their objective.
I deploy my blob in my building with the objective, the static ccs behind it to give orders and the executioner to the side to help out. The rest of my force (all meched up) presents a wall of A14 or gets cover saves on the other side of my deployment zone. Vendetta and pcs with flamers went in reserve. Plan: Get first blood, hope to hold home obj., drive up to middle obj and then contest/capture his objective if necessary.
Basically turn one he flew up and deposited his guys and shot me up a little, mainly knocking off the turret of the executioner. I responded driving up on the right and using first rank fire second rank fire on the blob to get first blood, take out his poorly placed librarian and kill about half the purifiers that were with him. (Btw when he saw how many dice I had to roll he suggested using an app he had on his ipad to roll all 60 or of them and it was actually quite useful allowing us to resolve the number of dead without any dice rolling at all) Also my executioner, unable to shoot next turn and with it's turret blown off decided to ram the dreadnought without much success, however in the centre I killed a terminator or two from long range shooting and did a little damage to the razorback.
It boiled down to me managing to kill his dreadknight and termies in the centre (but not before damage had been done) and taking out his remaining purifiers on the left while when the dread charged the blob in combat I just kept using my commissar's leadership and taking off 1-3 guys a turn. I got so engrossed with doing so well that I even forgot to bring on my reserves until turn 5... (facepalm) In the end my veterans in the middle managed to get to the objective on turn 6 after some back and forth running and I secured victory. I had first blood, slay the warlord and 2 objectives worth 3 points, while he had one objective slay the warlord and linebreaker, giving me and 8-5 win, however the difference in the score on vps wasnt enough to give me extra points in additional points to my 15.
Oh and btw in this tourny you could give your opponent a sportsmanship score of 1-3 (with 3 being best) but you could only give each number once (a bit of a silly system). In any case I gave my first opponent 3 and he gave me 3 too.
Round 2
Going into round 2 I was quite happy but I knew it was going to get tougher now that I was going to go up against someone who had also won their first game. At this point Ilya had beaten another ork player and Paul had lost to a chaos + daemons army.
At first I was matched up against Paul, but then they reset the system and changed some stuff around...
So I was matched up against sisters of battle and was a little worried. He had 2 exorcists, 3 squads of sisters with meltas in rhinos, a squad of dominions (?) in rhino, Coteaz, Celestine, 3 squads of acolytes with some sword thing and storm shield (perhaps some with rhinos), a storm raven, and some squads with loads of heavy bolters.

Apocalypse batrep: Imperium and Orks vs Blood Angels and Nids
On Friday, we had another apocalypse match - this time I was with the ork player bringing my space marines and guard, sporting my trio of leman russ', a vindicator and the usual stuff. Unfortunately he didn't bring his squiggoth :( so there was a big dent in our offensive capabilities.
Mission was the standard apocalypse one (6 objectives), with some twists made up by yours truly. Each HQ choice that died, was left on the field and became an extra objective. Also one team member was the overall force commander and they got to secretly nominate one of their HQ's who would have a special ability. On the tyranid/blood angel side it was d3 poisoned ap5 blasts which could be shot in the line of sight of their leader (who we later found out to be Dante). On our team it was booby-trapping d3 building which could be scheduled in advance, one of which could be remotely detonated if in the los of our force commander (the weirdboy).
I had an evil plan so we bid thirty minutes for deployment, making sure that we went second. After a little persuading our strategic assets were careful planning and flank march. My thinking was to reserve our army and flank in turn 1 with a devastating alpha strike. However as they deployed, our enemies revealed minefields (the black dice) which did some damage to our plans as my ally was rather afraid of moving his forces through them (facepalm).
Because of this new development, and also as I had lost a little faith in our original plan, I deployed a lot more stuff than I originally intended to.

Chiswick gw 500 pt games
So I'm just putting up some batreps which happened few weeks ago close to the time when my new local GW (chiswick) opened. First match was me vs Paul. Btw this is me trying to use a mix of blogger mobile and the new blogger to post this.
He had Mephiston, some scouts, a razorback and 3 deathcompany with a power weapon.
My imperial forces consisted of a plasma vet squad with carapace armour, a blob with missile launchers and flamers escorted by a Lord commissar and a platoon command squad with 2x nade launcher and a lascannon. Oh and I was giving marbo a try
![]() |
| better look at the troops |
![]() |
| Paul seized the iniative and advanced causing light losses. The guardsmen retaliated sniping off the razorback and failing against meph |
![]() |
| Mephiston assaults but over a few turns I manage to put a few lucky wounds on him with the lord commissar and a perils of the warp |
![]() |
| My command squad shot at the death company for most of the game basically sniping off one guy a turn after the first turn with their lascannon which was made twin-linked by the officer |

APOCALYPSE: c.4000 pts Tyranids and Orks vs Imperium
So a few weeks ago we had this apocalypse match and now is the time to put it up. We used all sorts of terrain and basically it was Paul and myself vs two of Paul's friends. I brought along 1600 pts of guard (i.e. my most recent army minus the vendetta/valk and the chimeras) and some space marines (1 used about 400 points of which for this battle) and then Paul had his 2000pt Blood Angels army
Paul and I had a plan - we wanted to go second in order to be able to blast stuff as it moved out into the open and also to have last turn objective grabbing and also to be able to mirror their deployment as we (or at least I) had not played against them before. Unfortunately because the table wasnt't quite 4' wide, our deployment plans were not so successful due to lack of space but we basically put our main fire on our right flank and some distracting mobile elements on the left.
| Xenos deployment... not much else to say really |

1750 IG vs Blood Angels: SG, Spearhead
Mission: Seize ground, deployment: table quarters - please tell me your thoughts - this was using my newly acquired iphone camera, which seems to focus a lot better than my regular (bad) one.
IG (slight variation on tourney list - which is shaping up nicely now):
CCS with 2x plasmagun, vox and medic
PCS with 3x flamer, plasma pistol, power sword and barebones guardsman
IS squad with AC + GL + vox and commissar with power sword and plasma pistol
2x IS squad with AC + GL + vox
Veterans with 3x melta, demolitions, chimera
Veterans with 3x plasma, power sword, grenadiers, chimera
Hellhound w/ heavy bolter
Vendetta
Leman Russ Executioner with plasma sponsons and heavy bolter
Leman Russ Vanquisher with lascannon
Leman Russ Eradicator Nova with heavy flamer
Blood Angels:
Dante
Mephiston
Furiosio dread with melta gun (+ storm bolter?) with drop pod
(10x) Tactical Squad with lascannon and meltagun in razorback with twin hbs (this has become a regular squad for Paul now)
(5x)Scout squad with snipers and missile launcher
(5x) Assault squad (barebones) ?!
Land speeder with heavy bolter and multi-melta
Whirlwind (-_-)
I won the roll off to go first and duly took it. Plan was to keep the platoon stationary for one turn (while shooting everything) then move forwards firing grenade launchers and massed lasguns and try to make it into the objective in the craters. Heavy weapons teams would baby sit the home objective whilst hopefully having some sort of field of fire while mobile vets and pcs would either go onto capture objectives or act as back/sweep up free ones in the late game.
Hellhound would move up generally being a nuisance and hopefully frying some scouts - if that failed my eradicator nova could give it a shot too. CCS deployed close to the blob to give orders and the executioner stayed in reserve to avoid the overcrowding that happened last time.
| Deployment |
Turn 1
| The gunline :D |
| silence fills the battlefield as the Imperial forces await the enemy's next move... |
| Which quickly appears in the form of dreadnought landing in the midst of imperial lines and promptly failing with his meltagun against the eradicator... |
| Having suffered very minor lossses the imperial gunline begins a bombardment causing minor casaulties to the traitorous marines. |
| Autocannons and grenade launchers are deployed against the enemy whirlwind but to little effect. |
